Carvoeiro is a very pretty fishing village just a 45 minute drive from Faro Airport and 3 hours south of Lisbon. Although it is a popular resort it has still retained the character and tradition of Portuguese life.
Shops and amenities
The market in the village sells locally caught fish, meats, fruit and vegetables. There is a good Butchers and Bakers and the mini mercardos sell most other items you might need.

There are 2 English speaking Doctors, a Clinic, 2 Chemists and a Dentist in Carvoeiro, as well as a minor injuries centre in Lagoa.

The larger town of Portimao is a 15 minute drive away and has a dedicated shopping centre (Algarve Shopping) with designer outlets and a good choice of restaurants.

The Algarve is famous for its sandy beaches and Carvoeiro has many to choose from. With its easy access, Carvoeiro beach is an ideal spot to relax in the sun. The town square with its local restaurants and bars are close by for a long leisurely lunch.

Other beaches such as Centianes, with its restaurant O'Stop overlooking the sand, Vale do Covo and Ferraguda, with restaurants renowned for their fish dishes, are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling.

Places of Interest  
  There are a number of fascinating places to visit along the Algarve, that are within a short drive of Carvoeiro, such as:-

* The Castle at Silves  - The Moorish, red sandstone castle stands proudly overlooking the historic town of Silves. Walk around the ramparts and take in the stunning views.

While you’re there, why not visit Fabrica do Ingles, the old cork factory and wander around the town’s restaurants and shops.

* Fontes de Estombar (Fountains of Estombar).

* Or you could take a boat trip to see the coast and the grottos.
